Finding a great landscape designer is a difficult task.

After an unsuccessful and costly mistake with the first designer. I felt disappointed and defeated so I started researching once again.

I found a series of informative videos of a local landscape designer who passionately presented the before and after designs on YouTube. After watching the entire series and reading all of the customer reviews, I called Lynda Meikle of Outer Visions Landscape Design and scheduled a consultation.

A friend of ours recommended Lynda Meikle of Outer Visions, and we could not be happier with her work. We love our yard now! She listened to the ideas we had about our property and was mindful of our budget. The landscaping in both the front and back yards were dated and the lights weren’t working. I am so very glad we chose Outer Visions Landscape Design to update and redesign our front and back yards! We have a challenging piece of land to work with. It is almost an acre, with areas of steep slope and lots of California native oak trees in the front and quite a bit of hardscape and pool in the back. Lynda used her extensive knowledge of vegetation along with her artistic eye to select just the right plant for every spot. She knew which plants deer-proof, how big they’d get, and how well they will look next to one another and was able to create our dreamscape! She also has a lot of connections with high-quality subcontractors that do excellent work (it’s obvious that they respect and like working with Lynda too). We’ve been in our house for almost 20 years and this is the 3rd time we’ve done a major upgrade on our landscape. This was the best experience – by far. Lynda was very hands-on throughout the process and managed each step of the way. Our yard looks gorgeous now but I know it’ll only get better with time as the plants mature. We did a huge remodel of our back and side yards. Lots of hardscape and stonework and we could not have done it without Lynda’s excellent design. We needed to address grading/drainage issues, working around very mature/large trees, removing a screened-in patio, and creating a continuous flow in our new space. I have known Lynda for more than 8 years. She designed the landscaping for our front and back yard. We wanted a Zen garden on the side of the house and through her vision and creative eye, the garden was realized. It was beyond our expectation and the design fee was very reasonable. Lynda Meikle is a lot of fun to work with. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for plants, her creative designs and her unique ideas all came together to give us a wonderful vision of what our yard could look like, well before a single stone was turned. If you are looking for plain straight lines and run-of-the-mill boxy structures, you’ve come to the wrong place! The flowing curves and graceful arches she designed for us were appealing in concept and breathtaking in the final execution. When we saw the first detailed plans of our exterior landscape as it could be, we knew we’d finally found the right visionary to help transform our outdoor areas from functional and boring to vibrant and delightful. Far from adopting the Prima Donna attitude so prevalent with many designers today, Lynda was more than willing to work with us every step of the way, incorporating our thoughts and desires and weaving them into an overall design concept that we loved. And when the time came, she was unafraid to put on work gloves and get as grubby as anyone, physically helping shape our shared vision into a stunning reality. We contracted Lynda to design a completely new entrance to our house and new front/side yard (we have a corner block) to replace expansive grass. We has some pretty challenging requests: a bird/bee/butterfly friendly, low water/Mediterranean climate garden with all year interest incorporating some specific fruit trees. Lynda did a fantastic job with the plant selections, particularly, and the overall design of the garden and hardscaping in general. The plants have been very thoughtfully selected so we do indeed have a low water garden with all year interest including spectacular winter blooming grevillea that burst forth at Christmas time much to the delight of the hummingbirds. We had monarch butterflies flapping around during the late summer and bumblebees and hummingbirds throughout the entire winter much to the delight of our kids. Our water bills dropped substantially in the first year even though we were watering the plants to get them established. My wife and I get a lot of pleasure from the garden and regularly wander around to see what is happening and appreciate the plants as they grow and flower. People driving/walking past our property frequently stop to comment on the garden as well. What a difference great landscaping makes to a house and the neighborhood!
